Our phones work on the pre-paid (pay-as-you-go)
system.
Phones are delivered with sufficient credit for most users.
We make a note of the credit balance when we send phones (and inform
you) , and when we get phones back, we calculate how much you have
used.
You can easily check how much is left yourself , and so how much
you have used, following instructions with the phone.
If the credit balance runs low, just call us on the number on the
back of the phone to add credit.
Of course you will only be billed for what you use.
Call charges (airtime) will be billed at cost :
The standard Vodafone/Softbank Mobile prepaid rate
within Japan is Yen 90 per min to any type of phone, any time of
day.
Our phones are also programmed with a Softbank Telecom
discount calling card: dial 006610 then the number and calls within
Japan will be at the discount rate of Yen 35 / min to landlines
; Yen 55 / min to mobiles.
Note that using the 006610 prefix, your phone number will not be
displayed on the screen of the phone you call.
Charges for international calls depend on the country called. For
example, calling the US will cost Yen 45 per minute any time of
day;
Australia Yen 70; UK/France/Germany Yen 50 ; HK Yen 60.
In all cases, calls are changed per 6 secs, at 1/10 of the above rates.
There are no charges for incoming calls, whether
local or international.
Please note that with these phones it is impossible
for us to provide a call-by-call breakdown of charges.
Sending e-mails is Yen 5 each up to 128 characters
(about 25 words) and Yen 15 over that (or with picture attached).
Receiving is free up to 384 characters (about 70 words), and Yen
15 over that. This is deducted from the standard Vodafone/Softbank
Mobile prepaid balance.
The rental charge also includes delivery
and return postage to us.
Generally we send phones to the customer's hotel or other address
as requested. It is also possible for us to send to the airport you arrive
at for you to pick up at the post office there.
Next day delivery is usually possible if we receive orders by 7
pm Japan time. However, we do prefer to receive orders in advance.
If you prefer delivery to be made your home address before you arrive
in Japan, this can be arranged for an additional charge of Yen 1000.
(We will need to receive the order at least 10 days before you depart
in this case)
We
send phones in a small padded bag (11 x 14 cm) which also contains
a battery charger, return envelope, and simplified operating
instructions.

If you would
like a belt case/ neck strap / earphone please let us know.
There will be a small additional charge for extra postage.

To return the phone, simply put it in
the stamped addressed envelope provided with the phone and mail
at a post office / post box or drop it off at your hotel front desk
for them to put in the post. There are post offices at the major
airports.

date you mail the phone back to us.

the phone (including dropping it in water), you will be liable to
a charge of up to Yen 20,000

and the balance (extra days plus call charges) on return.

if you prefer to pay this way (in this case we will need a Yen 30,000 deposit
