| RENTAL CHARGES |
| Q. |
Are
there any hidden charges? |
A.
|
No, there is no
extra charge for delivery (unlike other companies, we include
this in the basic charge) and there are no other extras (handling,
tax., etc) to pay. |
| Q. |
Is
there extra charge for advising the phone number in advance? |
| A. |
No, we usually let customers know the number about a week in advance of arrival. |
| Q. |
When
will my credit card be charged? |
|
A.
|
We usually charge in 2 parts-
the first week's rental we charge before sending the phone
(mainly to verify the credit card), and then when we receive
the phone back we charge for extra days and calls made. |

| Q. |
How
much credit does the phone come with? |
A.
|
The exact credit in the phone
will depend on how much has been used by other customers and how much we have added. We usually send
phones with at least Yen 20,000 credit (approx. $ 180) which is enough
for most customers . Of course we make a careful note of the
initial credit balance (and tell you), and bill you only for
what you use . |
Q.
|
As
written on your website, the phone will be sent out with enough
credit, I wonder if it runs low, will I need to find a top-up
card, use my credit card for that or in what way I can top my
credit up. |
A.
|
If the credit balance runs low
you simply call or e-mail us and we will give you a number to put into the phone to add credit. You won't pay for all the credit added- just the amount used. |

| DELIVERY |
Q.
|
I
will arrive at my hotel in Osaka in the morning, around 9.45.
Will it be alright to pick up the phone at the front desk at
that time? |
A.
|
Yes, we will send it so it is
there the day before (but will charge you from the day you pick
it up) |
Q.
|
I
understand that you will send me a phone to a hotel in Osaka.
Will it be possible to mail it back to you from Tokyo? |
| A. |
Yes, you can send back from anywhere.
|
| Q |
Where
do I drop off the phone when I am returning home? |
A.
|
There will be a stamped addressed
envelope with the phone. To return the phone, you simply put
the phone (in its bag) in the envelope and mail in any post
box(or usually you can ask the hotel front desk to post it)

| USAGE |
| Q. |
What
is the coverage area? |
A.
|
All Japan, but there are times,
for example (often, but not always) underground , in tunnels,
and in the countryside /mountains, that the phone is not able
to receive a signal. |
|
Q.
|
The
instructions say that the voice message system only works if
the phone is on but a call is not answered. Is that true and,
if so, what happens to the caller if the phone is off? |
A.
|
If it is turned off, the caller
gets a message saying that the phone is unavailable. The best
way to get round this is at night to leave it on, but activate
the "manner (politeness) mode", which will turn off
the ringing sound. |
| Q. |
Can I use my own
SIM card? |
| A. |
No, the phones we have are not
SIM-card phones.
|
| Q. |
I will be going
to Korea and China too on this trip. Can I use the phone there
? |
| A. |
No, only in Japan. |
| Q. |
Is it possible
to send text messages from the phone ? |
A.
|
In Japan the phones have e-mail
rather than SMS texting- you will be able to send to / receive
from other phones in Japan as well as computers in Japan and
abroad, but not to/ from phones abroad.
The e-mail address is linked to the phone number (e.g. renta1234@softbank.ne.jp
). You will not be able to receive/send e-mails using your regular
e- mail address. |
